Tammy
As the founder and owner of The Fitness Cellar, LLC, Tammy Beam is a living example of the phrase "What doesn't kill you will make you stronger."
Both a certified personal trainer and spinning instructor, Tammy draws upon a lifetime of experience and extensive training to help others develop healthier and happier lifestyles. She has been certified with the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America for 10 years. She is also a certified Spinning Instructor with Mad Dogg Athletics, Inc. and has a Career Diploma in Fitness and Nutrition.
Prior to her career in personal training, the Columbus, Ohio native excelled in varsity sports as a High School student. Tammy was a three-time first-team all league basketball and volleyball player with numerous recognitions. She also coached high school volleyball.
After high school, Tammy spent 7 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, where she graduated first in her company in the Army Physical Training Course. After completing her service, she attended Columbus State University.
Tammy faced one of her biggest physical and personal struggles when she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 1999. During the two years she fought the disease, Tammy made a deal with herself: if she could beat cancer, she would help others improve their quality of life through health and fitness.
Today Tammy is cancer free, and dedicates herself to inspiring people of all ages to discover their best selves, physically and mentally. With her tireless dedication and spirited enthusiasm, Tammy never fails to bring out the best in people, clients and co-workers alike.
Stacy
Stacy's passion for physical fitness began with tennis. As a graduate of Westerville South High School in Westerville, Ohio, Stacy received numerous accolades for her tennis game. These included winning the school's "Most Valuable Player" award four years in a row and qualifying for the AAA girls singles state competition as a quarter finalist in 1987. Stacy also played on The Ohio State University women's tennis team from 1988 to 1990. After college, Stacy took her game to the next level by becoming a tennis pro, working with athletic clubs around the Columbus area.
Even with her impressive sports background, Stacy understands the challenges that come with making healthier lifestyle choices. After the birth of her son Connor, she accepted an office job at a Columbus-area communications company, where the schedule was better suited for motherhood. Stacy says she gained important experience behind the desk, but it also came with a less desirable side effect: weight gain.
"I realized that I couldn't eat what I ate before and had to exercise for my health, not for fun or for the thrill of competing" she says.
With hard work and determination, Stacy has re-committed to fitness while maintaining her interest in business. As co-owner of The Fitness Cellar, she oversees the financial side of the company and is in charge of the new café. She is also a Certified Spinning Instructor, and is working toward completing her personal trainer certification.
Ultimately, Stacy says her goal at The Fitness Cellar is to see clients become their best selves. "I want to see everyone achieve and be all that they can be in life" she says. "The best way I know to get there is by being healthy."
